North – Aire’s Justin Scott and Mike Coligny were invited and travelled to Long Beach, California on Wednesday, August 10th to attend an AOPA sponsored initiative focusing on how the flight training industry can change to positively improve student experiences resulting in lower student attrition.
The group was tasked with reviewing specific focus areas including: instructor effectiveness, instructor support, customer focus/service, community and information sharing.
There were several notable participants including John and Martha King and aviation author and lecturer Rod Machado.

Justin and Mike report the meeting was a success with not only allowing North Aire to voice its concerns and recommendations to the industry through AOPA but many relevant and innovative approaches were discussed that were applicable to North Aire. This kind of meeting is a win win for all of the participants.
As this initiative moves forward with a final report due out at AOPA’s Summit in September, we will continue to report on the progress.
